Use of recordings in live performances
The broadcast of a sound recording in a performance must be authorised by Spedidam.
Request for authorisation
If you wish to broadcast a recording during a performance you are producing, you must contact Spedidam prior to such use to obtain authorisation for the broadcast.
Spedidam issues authorisations on behalf of name of performers who have granted it permission to do so. Any remunerations due are calculated based on Spedidam’s rates.
Contact us to submit your request.
Spedidam provides for two types of agreements:
- An agreement per show: authorises the broadcast of a recording for the entire duration of its use in a specific show.
- A long-term agreement: authorises the broadcast of recordings in all shows for five years and allows the organisation responsible for paying performers’ royalties to benefit from a 20% reduction.

Declaration
The agreement authorising the broadcast and the broadcast recording details must be submitted before the first performances.
- If pre-existing phonograms are used during your performance, you must declare on the relevant form the exact list of recordings you wish to broadcast as part of the show (track title, names of performers, year recorded, recording producer and track cues – start and end times – during the show).
- If a soundtrack specially designed for the show is used during your performance, you must submit the recording session sheet signed by the performers. Signing a recording session sheet with “Original soundtrack for the sound system of a show […]” as a primary use only authorises the recording of the artists’ performance but does not authorise its broadcast.
After the first performances, the producer must fill in a declaration form with all the information concerning the performances that ultimately took place, and share this form with Spedidam.
