Use of a recording not in a live performance

Use of a recording not in a live performance

Request for authorisation

If you wish to use a recording for a different purpose than what was initially authorised – also known as secondary use – you must obtain Spedidam’s prior authorisation.

Spedidam issues authorisations on behalf of performers who have granted it permission to do so. Remunerations due are calculated based on Spedidam’s rates.

Contact us to submit your request.

Spedidam provides for two types of agreements:

  • A one-off agreement: authorises a specific secondary use for an unspecified number of recordings that is not defined in advance, based on a reporting system.
  • A long-term agreement (5 years, renewable annually beyond 5 years): authorises one or more types of identified secondary use(s) for a number of recordings that is not defined in advance and is based on a reporting system. This agreement allows requests to be easily managed and entitles you to a 20% reduction on the amount of royalties due.

Declaration

The user must complete and submit to Spedidam a declaration form detailing the intended secondary use as well as a list of the relevant recordings (track title, names of performers, origin of the recording, year recorded, recording producer and track cues – start and end times).
