Our missions
Spedidam's purpose is to exercise and manage all the rights that performers are entitled to under the French Intellectual Property Code and any national, EU or international provisions in all countries.
Collecting
Spedidam collects the following remuneration on behalf of the performers it represents:
- Remuneration for private copying
- Equitable remuneration
- Remuneration collected for exercising exclusive rights
Together with Adami (Société pour l’Administration des droits des artistes et musiciens interprètes), Spedidam also collects the share of remuneration payable to performers for private phonogram and videogramcopying as well as the share of remuneration due for the broadcasting and any communication to the public of commercial phonograms, regardless of whether the artists are members of the two collective management organisations for performers’ rights.
These rights are also covered by representation agreements signed with French or foreign collective management organisations with the same purpose or pursuing the same goals.

Distributing
Distribution is Spedidam’s primary mission. It aims to distribute the amounts owed to performers based on the use of their recordings. The amounts paid to Spedidam are distributed to performers after deducting management fees and other costs where applicable, depending on the nature of the remuneration, according to a scheme decided by the Board of Directors.
For the distribution of remunerations based on usage records or by analogy, recordings are valued in proportion to their level of use. For each valued recording, royalties are distributed among the identified performers according to a sharing formula.
For the distribution of remunerations based on surveys and participation, each performer’s participation in a recording that has been used is valued according to criteria relating to the nature of the recording, its primary use, and its exploitation.

Defending
Spedidam’s mission is to protect the material and moral interests of the performers it represents. It also strives to establish rules of good professional practice in relation to the activities of its members (Article 3 of the Statutes).
When the rights of performers are infringed as a result of the illegal (unauthorised) use of their recordings, Spedidam may take legal action (in civil or administrative courts). The aim is to protect the individual interests of artists, but also to defend the profession as a whole in order to enforce the rights granted to performers by the French Intellectual Property Code and by all national, EU and international provisions.
To do so, you can send an email to the legal department.

Improving performers' rights
Spedidam actively works to strengthen the recognition and protection of performers’ rights:
- Engaging in dialogue with institutions: it calls on lawmakers at the national, European, and international level to change laws and agreements so that they protect artists’ interests.
- Notifying the media: campaigns are conducted to raise awareness of performers’ intellectual property rights and to highlight the importance of adapting them to new uses (streaming, artificial intelligence, metaverses, etc.).
- Mobilising artists: informing artists when their rights are being challenged (press releases, petitions, etc.).

Supporting
- Cultural Action: In accordance with the law, a portion of the amounts collected by Spedidam is allocated to cultural action. Through various support mechanisms, Spedidam contributes to employing performers, and promotes cultural richness and diversity in the country.
- Social fund: Pursuant to its Statutes, Spedidam has set up a social fund intended to provide one-off support to professional performers who are currently working or have ceased working, and who are facing financial hardship. Applications are examined anonymously by a specialised committee.
